Mission
San Felipe Pueblo Elementary School serves the educational needs of K-8th grade Pueblo youth. We are an accredited BIE school committed to providing a culturally relevant and high-quality learning environment that develops young Pueblo scholars into tomorrow's healthy and successful community leaders.
SFPES believes that the 21st-century global communities must care for, respect and share Mother Earth's resources. Our vision is to create a school community where our learners develop life skills that include all current and future technologies while preserving and celebrating the Pueblo language, culture and values.
Home of the Thunderbirds
San Felipe Pueblo Elementary School, the home of the Thunderbirds, is in the rural Pueblo community between Sundance Road and Main Street, bordering the Rio Grande. Our specialized curriculum guides students as they reach their highest academic potential. Dedicated faculty and staff strengthen our school community while promoting the overall well-being of every student.
Our united educational community encourages students and their families through physical, mental, cultural and spiritual education. SFPES’s dedicated team provides students with various learning initiatives, such as after-school support/tutoring, summer school, sports, clubs and more. Our students’ success is made possible by the shared responsibility of our staff, parents/guardians and community members.
Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)
San Felipe Pueblo Elementary School has implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students every advantage with integrated applications, such as personalized and assessment-based math and reading curriculum, Native language and culture educational programs, and accelerated learning strategies for our tailored instruction. Every one of our students benefits from dynamic teaching tools that use state-of-the-art resources.
