Athletic/Sports Participation Overview

San Felipe Pueblo Elementary School offers programs for our students. These programs are based on the availability of on-site coaches. We will send out notices when various athletics are available.

Code of Expectations for Athletes

Students participating in school-sponsored athletic activities are expected to:

  • Make the experience positive for everyone involved.
  • Learn and adhere to school and program policies and rules.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship, respect, and courtesy always.
  • Refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, including taunting, or using profane language.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
  • Show respect for officials, players, coaches, and spectators.
  • Respect school property and equipment.
  • Appreciate outstanding plays by either team and applaud good efforts in both victory and defeat.

Student Participation Requirements

  • All San Felipe Pueblo Elementary School students who meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to participate in athletic activities.
  • Eligibility is based on academic performance, attendance, and behavior.

Eligibility

  • Participants must be enrolled students at San Felipe Pueblo school.
  • Students must maintain satisfactory academic standing with no incident reports and no more than two unexcused absences or tardies during the week of a scheduled game.
  • Students must have good attendance and be on time for school on the day of the athletic activity.

Practice Sessions

  • Attendance at practice sessions is mandatory, and students should participate in all scheduled sessions.
  • Parents must notify the coach of any absences with a valid reason.
  • Students missing practice or athletic events during school-designated and recognized religious holidays will not be penalized.

Travel

  • Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to events away from the school.
  • Parents/guardians assume all legal responsibility for the student's safety during travel to and from practices and games.

Participation in these activities is essential for character development and emphasizes the core principles of character education, including trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
